So, the word prayer can be a tricky one. It is often heavy with baggage from old understandings or beliefs…at least this is the case for me…so I guess I can only speak for me. I have always found this idea of prayer one step beyond my understanding. What is the purpose? Is there a right way? Is there a wrong way? When these thoughts flood my already crowded brain I am taken back to my undergraduate days. I was getting an undergraduate degree in Religion and Philosophy and was struggling to reconcile the understanding of the prayer of my childhood with my evolving understanding of spirituality and the Universe. In my angst I approached my professor with a question…does prayer change God’s mind? This was from the space of still thinking that the divine was something outside of me, but I will never forget his answer. He said, “prayer doesn’t change God’s mind, it changes our minds”. WOW. Mind completely blown. Now fast forward a few years…ok more than a few…and I am deep in my understanding that prayer continues to be a way to change our mind. It is a tool not to ask for something, but instead to remind us of something. To remind us that the thing we are seeking is already present within us…whatever that may be. Prayer then becomes our most powerful alignment tool. It is in that alignment that a gateway is opened to a deeper understanding and awareness of our true nature and the creative power that exists within all of us. Power Packed Prayer…is truly where it’s at.
