Immortality

Updated: Apr 28, 2023

So, let’s talk about immortality…easy, light subject right? Science of Mind breaks it down like this… The truth about life…and I mean the big “T” Truth is that life never ends. That mysterious thing we call death is merely a changing from one form of life to another. I recently heard the amazing writer Anne Lamott describe it as “just a radical change of address”. So with this understanding we don’t buy into the idea or belief that death is and “end” to life, instead death is just the visible being made invisible, just like birth is the invisible being made visible. So physical death is the shedding of this earth suit when it has outlived its usefulness in this realm and is ready for the next great adventure. Now all this sounds well and good, but how can we actually use this awareness to bring joy and color to our current incarnation? Understanding that death is merely a changing of form frees us to live fully in this movement. To squeeze every second out of this life, knowing when we come to the end of this particular experience we can embody the words of George Bernard Shaw when he said…”I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.” What I take from this is if we can crack the code of being present to each moment of our lives, the good, the bad…the in between…then we will be able to adventurously step into our next grand address…knowing that it is not an ending, but instead a brave new beginning.
